• Winter Pool Lessons 2012 - Our popular Winter Pool Sessions are a chance to learn new skills and practice your existing ones.  Class sizes are small with a high degree of individual attention. There is no set lesson, you tell us what you want to learn and practice. Price: $55 with your own kayak or $75 with kayak rental. Northside Pool, Sydney Mines dates are on Saturdays;  Kiwanis Pool, Sydney dates are Sundays.

• The Cape Breton Paddlefest 2012 has been announced!  It will be held September 14-16, 2012 in Richmond County (location TBA) and will feature learning sessions and social paddles for canoeists, kayakers and stand-up paddleboarders, beginner and beyond.  We have a Facebook page which has pics from the 2011 event and where information will be posted as we plan the event.  Stay tuned for more details: Cape Breton Paddlefest on FB and capebretonoutdoors.com .

 

• Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking Instructor training is available from Rising Tide Expeditions again in 2012.  We are offering this course to those who have had Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level 1 skills training or its equivalent and who would like to develop their abilities as a kayak instructor. Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking Instructor certification and employment opportunities are available to succesful participants.  Call or email for information.

• Fortress of Louisbourg "Paddle Through Time" - We are pleased to be working with the Fortress of Louisbourg to offer full-day sea kayaking trips which include paddling from the Louisbourg waterfront to the harbour gate of the Fortress, a walking tour of the Fortress grounds, a "commoner's meal" and paddle back to town.  These trips are available June-September at $135 per person.  2-5 day trips along this coast, with visits to the Fortress, are a popular choice as well.
